AnswerConnect pricing: what AnswerConnect costs per month, per minute and per call
AnswerConnect pricing is $350, $395 or $575 a month for 200, 300 or 400 receptionist minutes, rising to $132,950 for 100,000 minutes. Their pricing page now 404s and the plans page asks for your phone number, but the full rate card is still published. Two things in it decide your bill: the $350 Entry plan is the worst deal on the card, carrying a 35 percent higher overage rate and a setup fee the $395 plan does not charge, and the volume discount stops improving above 300 minutes.

AnswerConnect pricing is $350 a month for 200 minutes, $395 for 300 and $575 for 400, rising through published tiers to $132,950 for 100,000 minutes. Overage is $2.50 a minute on the Entry plan and $1.85 on everything up to 2,500 minutes, falling to $1.75 above that. There is a $49.99 setup fee on Entry and Standard but not on Growth, and no contract or notice period. Figures read from AnswerConnect's own published US rate card in September 2026.
Finding those numbers is now harder than it should be. AnswerConnect's pricing page returns a 404, and the plans page has been replaced with a form that asks for your name, email and phone number before it shows you anything. The full rate card is still published, in a PDF linked from their own sitemap, and everything below is read from it rather than from a comparison site. Two things in that card matter more than the headline prices: the cheapest plan has the most expensive overage in the entire range, and above 300 minutes the volume discount essentially stops.
How much does AnswerConnect cost?
AnswerConnect sells prepaid blocks of receptionist minutes. Here are the three plans it markets as most popular, normalized to an effective per-minute rate and to the cost of a single three minute call.
| Plan | Monthly price | Minutes included | Effective per minute | One 3-min call | Overage | Setup fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entry | $350 | 200 | $1.75 | $5.25 | $2.50 | $49.99 |
| Growth (badged Best Value) | $395 | 300 | $1.32 | $3.95 | $1.85 | None |
| Standard | $575 | 400 | $1.44 | $4.31 | $1.85 | $49.99 |
Entry buys real people 24/7, basic scripting, CRM integrations and the desktop and mobile app. Growth and Standard upgrade the scripting to customizable and add live chat. Growth and Standard have identical published feature lists, so the only differences between them are 100 minutes, $180 a month and a setup fee.
Which AnswerConnect plan is actually the cheapest?
Growth, and it is not close. This is the finding worth taking away from the whole rate card, because the plan that looks like the budget option is the worst deal on the page.
Entry costs $45 a month less than Growth. In exchange you get 100 fewer minutes, an overage rate 35 percent higher, and a $49.99 setup fee that Growth does not charge. Every one of those four comparisons runs against Entry.
Run the crossover. Entry costs $350 plus $2.50 for every minute past 200. Growth is a flat $395 up to 300 minutes. They meet at 218 minutes. Above roughly 218 minutes a month, which is about 73 three-minute calls, Entry costs more than Growth while including a third less time. At a full 300 minutes, Entry bills $600 against Growth's $395, so choosing the cheaper-looking plan costs you $205 that month.
Entry only makes sense if you are genuinely confident of staying under about 200 minutes, and even then you are paying a setup fee to save $45.
The Growth to Standard step is more reasonable but still worth checking. Growth is $395 plus $1.85 past 300 minutes; Standard is $575 flat to 400. They cross at about 397 minutes. So Standard, despite the higher tier, is only the cheaper choice above roughly 397 minutes a month. At 350 minutes Growth costs $487.50 and Standard costs $575.
Does AnswerConnect get cheaper at higher volume?
Above 300 minutes, essentially no. Here is the entire large-plan ladder with the effective per-minute rate worked out.
| Minutes | Cost per month | Effective per minute | Overage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300 (Growth) | $395 | $1.32 | $1.85 |
| 400 (Standard) | $575 | $1.44 | $1.85 |
| 550 | $795 | $1.45 | $1.85 |
| 750 | $1,050 | $1.40 | $1.85 |
| 950 | $1,325 | $1.39 | $1.85 |
| 1,200 | $1,625 | $1.35 | $1.85 |
| 1,500 | $2,025 | $1.35 | $1.85 |
| 2,500 | $3,375 | $1.35 | $1.85 |
| 5,000 | $6,650 | $1.33 | $1.75 |
| 7,500 | $9,950 | $1.33 | $1.75 |
| 15,000 | $19,950 | $1.33 | $1.75 |
| 50,000 | $66,250 | $1.33 | $1.75 |
| 100,000 | $132,950 | $1.33 | $1.75 |
The $395 Growth plan at 300 minutes has an effective rate of $1.317 a minute. The $132,950 plan at 100,000 minutes has an effective rate of $1.330 a minute. Committing to 333 times the volume, and more than a million and a half dollars a year, buys a per-minute rate fractionally worse than the third-cheapest plan on the card.
The curve does not fall smoothly either. It rises from Growth to Standard, rises again at 550 minutes, then drifts slowly down to about $1.33 and flattens completely. What does improve at 5,000 minutes and above is the overage rate, which drops from $1.85 to $1.75.
That is unusual even in a category where volume discounts are thin. Ruby improves its rate by 12.7 percent between its 100 and 500 minute plans, which is not generous but is at least a discount. If you are being quoted a large AnswerConnect plan on the basis that scale brings the rate down, ask to see the per-minute math on the tier you are being offered against the $395 plan.
Does AnswerConnect charge a setup fee?
Yes on Entry and Standard, no on Growth, and the rate card contradicts itself about it.
The Entry and Standard plan cards both state "+ $49.99 setup fee". The Growth card states "No setup fee". Then the footnote under the large-plan table states, without qualification, that all plans include a one-time setup fee of $49.99.
Those two statements cannot both be true for a Growth customer. It is almost certainly a stale footnote rather than anything deliberate, and $49.99 is a small number next to a $395 monthly commitment. But it is exactly the kind of discrepancy that produces an awkward first invoice, so get it confirmed on the order form.
How does AnswerConnect bill a minute?
Every interaction is rounded up to the nearest minute and billed in one-minute increments. That is the coarsest rounding of any major provider in this category, and it costs more than it looks.
Rounding to whole minutes penalizes short calls hardest. A 65 second call bills as two minutes. A 2 minute 5 second call bills as three. If your call mix is heavy on quick questions about hours, location and availability, which for most small businesses it is, your effective rate is meaningfully worse than the card rate. On a book of calls averaging 1 minute 40 seconds of real talk time, whole-minute rounding adds roughly 20 percent to the bill.
Compare that with services billing in 30 second increments, or the handful billing per second. It is not a hidden fee and AnswerConnect states the rule plainly, but it belongs in your model. If you are budgeting 300 minutes of conversation, budget nearer 360 minutes of billed time, which on the Growth plan means you are into overage.
One buyer-friendly term deserves credit here, because it is unusual and it is real. AnswerConnect does not charge for the first 30 interactions under 30 seconds in each billing cycle. Wrong numbers, hangups and robocalls are calls every metered service happily bills you for, and AnswerConnect gives you 30 of them free each month.
Is there a contract with AnswerConnect?
No, and this is one of the strongest things on the card. AnswerConnect publishes "no hidden fees, no contracts, no notice period" and lets plans flex up or down as your volume changes. In a category where minimum commitments and 30-day cancellation notice are still common, month to month with no notice period is a genuine buyer advantage and should count in AnswerConnect's favor.
Some third-party pages state that AnswerConnect requires a 90-day minimum commitment. That claim does not appear anywhere in AnswerConnect's own published rate card, which says the opposite. If a rep quotes you a minimum term, ask them to reconcile it with their published pricing guide.
Is AnswerConnect worth it?
For a business that specifically wants a trained human being answering the phone, AnswerConnect is one of the more credible options in the US market and it is fair to say so. It has been recognized by Forbes as a best answering service, it carries more than a thousand five-star Trustpilot reviews, and the no-contract terms are better than most of the field. On the Growth plan at $1.32 a minute it is also the cheapest published per-minute rate among the major staffed services, which is worth knowing if a human voice is the thing you are buying.
The problem is the one every per-minute service has, and it is about call mix rather than call quality. The meter cannot tell the difference between a prospective client with a $20,000 matter and someone asking whether you are open on Saturday. Both cost you the same $3.95 on Growth, or $5.25 on Entry. For most small businesses the second kind is the large majority of the volume, and paying human rates for a lookup is where the budget goes.
It is also worth noting that AnswerConnect plants a tree for every customer every month, which is a real program and a reason some buyers choose them. If sustainability genuinely factors into how you pick vendors, it is worth putting a number on your own footprint rather than only your suppliers', and measuring Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions properly tends to change which line items actually matter.
What does AnswerConnect cost against an AI answering service?
At 300 minutes a month, roughly 100 three minute calls, AnswerConnect Growth is $395 and starts metering at $1.85 past the allowance. PhoneAgent.ai answers the same calls for a flat $89, $199 or $399 a month depending on plan, with no talk-minute meter, no rounding rule and no overage line, and it books the appointment into your calendar during the call rather than taking a message for you to act on later.
The honest framing is not that one replaces the other for everybody. Below about 150 minutes a month a metered service can be the rational purchase, and callers in real distress should reach a person. The case for flat pricing is strongest exactly where AnswerConnect's model is weakest: a business whose volume moves. A roofer after a hailstorm, a clinic in flu season and a CPA firm in March all get their largest invoice in the month the phone matters most, because the meter charges most when business is best.
The full side-by-side, including where AnswerConnect wins, is in our AnswerConnect alternative comparison. If your objection is to the metered model itself rather than to this vendor, that is a different question and it is worked through in flat rate answering service. One disambiguation before you search further
If your search results are mixing in tax research software, you have collided with a different product. CCH AnswerConnect is Wolters Kluwer's tax and accounting research platform, sold to accounting firms, and it has no connection to AnswerConnect the answering service. The pricing in this article is for the answering service only.
The short version
AnswerConnect costs $350, $395 or $575 a month for 200, 300 or 400 minutes. Take the $395 Growth plan and ignore the $350 one: Entry has a 35 percent higher overage rate, a setup fee Growth does not charge, and costs more than Growth above 218 minutes. There is no contract, no notice period, and 30 free short interactions a month. The two numbers that decide your real bill are not in the headline: whole-minute rounding, which adds roughly 20 percent on a book of short calls, and the fact that the volume discount stops improving above 300 minutes, where Growth's $1.32 a minute beats every larger plan including the 100,000 minute tier. Read the card yourself before you take a quote, because the plans page will ask for your phone number first.
